Letter	People always open them, formal	Can take time to get to address if not first class or urgent	A firing.
Memo	Will be seen by employee if easily placed on the desk where they can see	Might get mixed up with other bits of paper, therefore, not getting read.	Meeting at 1pm

Office Notice Board	Will be seen by employee if placed where easily seen.	Might not apply to everyone.	Christmas Dinner Notification

Whole Company (MD)	Stops the chinese whispers syndrome, so that people hear information from the horses mouth.	Takes a long time to arrange	Company gone bust, lots of changes happening

This isn't a complete list by any stretch of the imagination, but it gives a picture of just how many ways of communicating there are.
